Description:
"Vacant Visions" is a photography project that captures the decay of Phoenix's abandoned retail and commercial spaces through black-and-white darkroom prints. Using the Mordançage technique, half of each image shows the current state of neglect, while the other half envisions the potential further decay. The project explores the impact of economic shifts, the pandemic, and landlord decisions on the growing number of vacant spaces. It also delves into themes of gentrification, urban blight, and community development, challenging viewers to consider the balance between revitalization and decay in shaping Phoenix’s future.
