The History of Brill Gallery & Studio
In 2012 local photographer Andrew Pielage introduced the Drive Thru Gallery to the Roosevelt Row Artist District and downtown Phoenix scene.
The D.T.G. focused solely on photography and featured over 30 emerging and established photographers in three years. Due to the rapid change in the art scene happening on Roosevelt Row at that time, the D.T.G had to close its doors in 2016.
Seven years later, Pielage is set to open a new gallery with the same focus.
The Brill Gallery and Studio in the eclectic art district of the Garfield historical neighborhood will once again focus on photography bringing art and community together. There is more to art than just seeing and the Brill Gallery and Studio will explore new visceral ways to bring photography to life.
Opening October 2023.

The History of the Brill Line and Phoenix Street Car
"Ride a Mile and Smile the While.
The Phoenix Street Railway provided streetcar service in Phoenix, Arizona, from 1888 to 1948. The motto was "Ride a Mile and Smile the While.”
The line was founded in 1887 by Moses Hazeltine Sherman and used horse-drawn carts. The system opened on 11 January, 1888.[2] Many of these lines were built to subdivisions that were being developed by Sherman's land development interests.[3] Beginning in 1893, however, the railway was completely electrified. The line was popular with the locals and was partly responsible for the growth patterns observed in the early history of Phoenix.
The system reached its height in the 1920s with several line extensions. By 1925, there were 33.6 miles (54.1 km) of track on six lines.
