Frank Lloyd Wright’s Howard & Helen Anthony House. No071 (#500fllwproject)
The Anthony house is the first of three Wright-designed homes constructed in the twin cities of St. Joseph and Benton Harbor over approximately five years.
Each home capitalizes on the scenic views and natural surroundings of the St. Joseph River or Lake Michigan. This particular house was built for Howard Anthony, the inventor and developer of the Heathkit, which eventually grew into the nationwide Heath Company.
The low-lying, cypress and sandstone house is nestled at the head of a wooded ravine on a bluff overlooking the St. Joseph River.
