Photograph, Experience, and Explore Two (2) Private Frank Lloyd Wright Sites Plus An Internationally Renowned Public Garden
This 3-day workshop includes a tour and exclusive interior and exterior photography access not usually given at each of these three sites:
KENNETH AND PHYLLIS LAURENT HOUSE
The Laurent House is the only building designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright for a person with a disability. The single-story Usonian home is a rare mid-century design featuring a solar hemicycle footprint, and is considered one of the most well-preserved Wright homes in existence. Visit the Laurent House website.
Included in the workshop is a Docent-Guided Tour of Laurent House.
ANDERSON JAPANESE GARDENS
Anderson Japanese Gardens evolved from an individual’s vision to create a unique amenity for the Rockford region into an internationally renowned public garden. The founder’s principals of authentic design, first-class craftsmanship and world-class maintenance have led to the Gardens’ reputation as one of the finest Japanese gardens in the world. Today, the Garden operates as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations and attracts nearly 100,000 guests annually. Visit the Anderson Japanese Gardens website.
Included with this workshop is a tour and the rare opportunity to photograph private areas of the gardens.
FRED B. JONES (PENWERN) ESTATE
The year was 1900. Frank Lloyd Wright needed a project to display his talents; Fred B. Jones needed a place in the country to escape the Chicago heat and hectic business world. The result was an amazing estate, which Frank Lloyd Wright named Penwern.
The estate consists of four structures; a main house, boat house, gate house and stable, which were built on a 10-acre site with 600 feet of lakefront and a commanding view of Delavan Lake. The boathouse was built in 1900, the house in 1901, and the stable and gatehouse followed in 1903. Visit the Penwern Estate website.
Included in the workshop is a private Docent-Guided Tour of Penwern Estate.

Review from Google:
“This was my first workshop with Andrew and I had a great experience. He is knowledgeable, funny, and welcoming. I am a photography novice and learned so much. I could see that others who are very experienced. Also gain a lot through the workshop. Andrew is also very knowledgeable about desert plants and animals, and our desert walk was one of the highlights for me.”

Review from Google:
“Andrew is both an excellent photographer and accomplished instructor. He makes the foundational concepts and practices required for successful digital photography clear through presentations, guided practice, and terrific written materials. Andrew has the ability to quickly build a positive learning community where people with very different backgrounds and skill sets can come together to experience the kind of fellowship Frank Lloyd Wright established at Taliesin.”

FAQs
-
A: My first response is bring them all. It will be a great time to work with any new ones you may have. I used my wide-angle (17mm) and my walk around (24-105mm) the most. Renting lenses is a great idea for the workshop if you are looking to try one out or don't have a wide angle or tilt shift lens.
-
A: Don’t forget the rest of your camera equipment if you have it: batteries, extra memory cards, timers, filters, rain cover, and manual.
-
A: Yes, and it should have Adobe® Lightroom Classic installed. A free 7-day trial is available for download.
-
A: You should have some experience editing photos with Adobe® Lightroom Classic and know how to import and export images.
-
A: Comfortable shoes, temperature-appropriate clothing for early morning and late evening. I wear a down parka when it’s below 60, so don’t be shy with the insulation.
