Frank Lloyd Wright’s Ennis House – The Good and Bad News

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Mabel and Charles Ennis Residence – Los Angeles, California [1923] – John Nesbitt Alterations [1940]

In his prolonged absence during the construction of the Ennis house, Frank Lloyd Wright wrote to them. “You see, the final result is going to stand on that hill a hundred years or more. Long after we are all gone, it will be pointed out as the Ennis house and pilgrimages will be made to it by lovers of the beautiful.” (dated 9.4.24).

🔺 You want the good news or bad news first? Let’s end on a good note. Soooo bad news, it wouldn’t have lasted a 100 years (or more) with out serious time and funding put in to restore it. Good news…it is still no doubt a pilgrimage site for not only Wright fans but architectural aficionados around the world.

🔺 I don’t take many selfies in my #500fllwproject but I fell in love with this one immediately.

Have you taken the pilgrimage out to see it? What did you think?
